Real Madrid faces a problem with the departure of Dani Ceballos and Xabi Alonso wants a new midfielder

Dani Ceballos is close to leaving Real Madrid, and his departure could leave Xabi Alonso with a shortage of options in the center of the pitch. According to Diario AS, the coach has already requested reinforcements if the Spaniard’s transfer is confirmed.
Xabi Alonso demands solutions
If Ceballos leaves, Madrid’s midfield will be reduced to just five names: Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Güler. While the quality is unquestionable, the lack of depth alarms Alonso, who fears a repeat of last season’s struggles with fatigue and injuries.
Transfer market on alert
President Florentino Pérez and the club’s board are monitoring the market for possible signings. Though no official moves have been made yet, Madrid may act quickly if Ceballos’ transfer is finalized.
One internal option is Thiago Pitarch, an 18-year-old academy talent described as a modern midfielder with vision and tactical discipline. However, the club is reluctant to accelerate his development and prefers a gradual introduction into the first team.
Where will Ceballos play next?
Ceballos is in advanced talks with Olympique de Marseille, where he hopes to secure more consistent playing time. The French club’s project has already convinced the midfielder, with negotiations ongoing to reach a final agreement with Madrid.
Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad has also shown interest, viewing Ceballos as a potential replacement ahead of expected departures. However, talks with the Saudi club have not yet advanced significantly.
