PSG complicates Donnarumma’s move to Manchester City as transfer deadline approaches

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future remains uncertain. Despite being applauded in what seemed like a farewell at the Parc des Princes last week, the Italian goalkeeper could remain at Paris Saint-Germain if an agreement with Manchester City is not reached before the transfer window closes.
Negotiations stalled between PSG and City
According to L’Équipe, PSG and Donnarumma both recognize that the goalkeeper’s cycle in Paris is nearing its end. However, while the French club demands close to €50 million, Manchester City is pushing for a lower fee, hoping to take advantage of the late market stage.
If no agreement is sealed by September 1, Donnarumma may be forced to stay until January, though sources close to the player admitted he is “ready to wait” for the right project.
Ederson’s situation adds another obstacle
The transfer also depends on the future of Ederson, who has been linked with Galatasaray. Although the Brazilian is open to a move, the Turkish club has yet to meet City’s demands, leaving Guardiola with three goalkeepers in his squad.
Meanwhile, James Trafford started the Premier League season in goal but struggled in the opener against Tottenham. Guardiola defended the youngster:
“The goalkeeper position is very unique and requires consistency. Everyone will have opportunities throughout the season.”
Donnarumma’s contract and market value
Donnarumma’s current deal with PSG runs until June 30, 2026, and his market value is estimated at €40 million by Transfermarkt. PSG, however, is holding firm at €50M, while City has signaled it is only willing to make a less lucrative offer, as L’Équipe described it.
With just days before the deadline, the Italian’s future remains in limbo a battle between PSG’s financial stance and City’s negotiating patience.
