Newcastle are trying to sign Lautaro Martinez, but Inter Milan are rejecting the English club’s approach.

Argentine striker remains captain and centerpiece of the Nerazzurri despite Premier League interest
Inter say “no” to Newcastle
Newcastle United attempted to explore a deal for Lautaro Martínez, but Inter Milan and the striker’s camp swiftly rejected the approach, according to Fox Sports Argentina and Calciomercato.com.
The Premier League side reportedly contacted the forward’s agent, Alejandro Camaño, but negotiations never advanced. Lautaro, 28, has no interest in leaving San Siro, where he is both club captain and top scorer.
Agent confirms player’s decision
Speaking about Newcastle’s attempt, Camaño underlined the Argentine’s loyalty to Inter:
“Lautaro plays for Inter, the team that reached the Champions League final. He’s the captain, and he’s happy at the club. Some questions don’t even need answers.”
The comments reinforce Inter’s stance that the striker is untouchable, particularly after years of consistent performances that made him one of the most reliable center-forwards in Europe.
Lautaro’s impact at Inter
For four consecutive seasons, Lautaro has been Inter’s top scorer across all competitions, cementing his reputation as one of Serie A’s most decisive players. His leadership role and technical influence make him irreplaceable in Simone Inzaghi’s project.
Inter, who finished as Champions League runners-up and continue to fight for domestic dominance, see Lautaro as the symbol of their ambitions both in Italy and in Europe.
In the running for the Ballon d’Or
Adding to his status, Lautaro Martínez is on the final shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, representing Serie A alongside Napoli’s Scott McTominay and Inter teammate Denzel Dumfries.
With a secure contract and the full backing of the board, Lautaro is set to remain at Inter Milan, closing the door on a move to Newcastle or any other club in the current transfer window.
