Montse Tomé speaks out after leaving the Spanish national team: “I am leaving happy and in peace”

After leading Spain to a runner-up finish at the Women’s Euro Cup, coach Montse Tomé has officially stepped down from her position. The Spanish Football Federation quickly announced Sonia Bermúdez as her successor, who will take charge of the team and maintain Spain’s competitive edge in women’s football.

Montse Tomé Reflects on Her Tenure

Tomé, who guided the Spanish national team for two years, expressed gratitude and pride in her time with the squad. She highlighted the players’ talent and resilience and thanked her coaching staff for their support.

“Thanks to the excellent group of players with whom I grew professionally, their immense talent, and their continued progress through both good and bad times, I leave happy and at peace,” Tomé said.

She also emphasized her readiness to embrace new challenges while looking back proudly on her achievements.

“A stage has come to an end, and from now on, all my energy and enthusiasm are focused on the future, which begins today. I’m proud and grateful to have been part of this team, which has achieved great things for Spanish football,” she added.

Spain Prepares for Women’s Nations League

With the Euro disappointment behind them, Spain will now focus on the Women’s Nations League semifinals against Sweden. The first leg will take place in Spain on October 24, with the return leg in Sweden on October 28. Fans hope the new leadership can steer the team back to victory and continue Spain’s rise in women’s football.
