Matheus França is negotiating his exit from Crystal Palace while Cruzeiro is showing interest

Brazilian club eye loan move for 21-year-old ex-Flamengo midfielder
Matheus França, formerly of Flamengo and currently at Crystal Palace, could be on his way back to Brazilian football. According to GE, Cruzeiro have opened talks to sign the 21-year-old midfielder, who has struggled for playing time in the Premier League.
Loan Seen as Best Option
Negotiations are still at an early stage, but Cruzeiro believe a loan deal would benefit all parties. Under coach Leonardo Jardim, the club aims to give França more minutes on the pitch before considering a permanent transfer. The move, however, will depend on Palace’s willingness to negotiate, as the midfielder is not in manager Oliver Glasner’s plans highlighted by his absence from the squad in the recent Community Shield win over Liverpool.
Underwhelming Spell in England
Signed in August 2023 for €20 million (R$104 million at the time) after impressing co-owner John Textor, França has made just 14 Premier League appearances for Palace, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Despite high expectations, the midfielder has struggled to secure a regular role at Selhurst Park.
Return to Brazil Could Reignite Career
A move back to Brazil could help França rediscover the form that made him one of Flamengo’s brightest prospects. Cruzeiro, currently second in the Brasileirão Série A, could provide the perfect platform for his resurgence under Jardim’s system.
Premier League Talent on Brazilian Clubs’ Radar
França is not the only Premier League player linked with a return to South America. Palmeiras are reportedly in talks to sign Julio Enciso from Brighton, while Cruzeiro are also exploring the possibility of bringing in Luis Sinisterra from Bournemouth.
