Liverpool are set to invest a record £130 million in Isak, enough to buy the entire Corinthians squad.

Liverpool are preparing a final £130 million (R$950 million) bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, in what could become the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
Reds prioritize Isak over other stars
The Swedish forward is Liverpool’s number one target this window, ahead of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and PSG’s Bradley Barcola. According to reports, Isak has already reached a verbal agreement for a contract until 2030, with an option for one more year.
Manager Arne Slot played a decisive role in convincing the 24-year-old to join Anfield, considering him a perfect fit for his tactical system. If completed by the September 1 deadline, the deal would surpass Liverpool’s £116 million signing of Florian Wirtz, becoming both a club and league record.
Comparison with Corinthians’ squad value
To put the fee into perspective, Liverpool could buy the entire Corinthians squad with the same amount. Transfermarkt values the Brazilian side at €112 million (R$710 million).
Yuri Alberto is the highest-rated player in the team, with a market value of €22 million (R$139 million). Midfielder Rodrigo Garro comes second, valued at €14 million (R$88 million).
Only Flamengo and Palmeiras out of reach
In Brazil, only two clubs boast squads worth more than Isak’s potential transfer fee: Flamengo, at R$1.4 billion, and Palmeiras, at R$1.2 billion. Corinthians rank fourth with R$710 million, behind Botafogo (R$900 million).
Historic deal in the making
Should the transfer be finalized, Isak would not only become Liverpool’s record signing but also a symbol of the ever-rising financial power of English football — where one player’s price tag can eclipse the value of entire squads in South America.
