Kobbie Mainoo asks to leave Manchester United and join De Bruyne at Napoli

Kobbie Mainoo has informed Manchester United that he wants to leave the club and join Napoli, where he would play under Antonio Conte alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay. The English youngster believes a move to Serie A could help him regain confidence and playing time.
Mainoo feels sidelined under Amorim
The 19-year-old midfielder has not started any of United’s first two Premier League matches under new manager Rúben Amorim. According to the Mirror, Mainoo feels out of place at Old Trafford and sees a switch to Napoli as the best path for his development.
The presence of McTominay, who rediscovered his form in Italy and is now considered one of the world’s best midfielders, also influenced Mainoo’s decision.
Napoli’s plan with Conte, De Bruyne, and McTominay
Napoli, current Serie A champions, are keen to take advantage of the player’s situation. Antonio Conte reportedly sees Mainoo as a crucial piece to form a dynamic midfield alongside De Bruyne and McTominay.
Negotiations remain complicated, however, as Manchester United are resisting his departure. The European transfer window closes on September 1, leaving only a few days for talks to progress.
Other exits at Old Trafford
Mainoo is not the only Red Devil considering a move. Forward Rasmus Højlund is also on Napoli’s radar, while Antony is pushing for a transfer to La Liga side Real Betis.
