Chelsea confirm three absences against Fulham in Premier League, including Cole Palmer

Chelsea will open the third round of the Premier League this Saturday (30), at 8:30 am (Brasília time), when they host Fulham at Stamford Bridge. Coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that three players will be unavailable, with Cole Palmer the main absence.

Palmer ruled out, Maresca confirms

Palmer, who was not called up to England’s national team for September’s FIFA Date, is sidelined due to what Maresca described as “a problem.” The manager highlighted his importance:

“We’re definitely a much better team with him. There’s no doubt about that, but when he’s not on the field, we need to find different solutions.”

Other absentees and one key return

In addition to Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Benoît Badiashile will also miss the match. On the other hand, defender Wesley Fofana is back and should receive minutes as he works towards full fitness.
Maresca also addressed Lavia’s situation:

“I don’t think he’s started a single game in two seasons. When he returns, I hope he can stay fit for a long time because he’s a player we really trust.”

Estêvão could gain an opportunity

With Palmer out, youngster Estêvão may be handed a starting role in midfield. Chelsea’s likely XI against Fulham is: Robert Sánchez; Reece James, Chalobah, Adarabioyo (Fofana), Cucurella; Enzo Fernández, Caicedo, Estêvão, Pedro Neto; João Pedro and Delap.
