José Mourinho is working to sign Brahim Díaz and David Alaba from Real Madrid

As the Turkish Süper Lig approaches kickoff, Fenerbahçe and head coach José Mourinho are targeting two high-profile reinforcements from Real Madrid: Moroccan attacking midfielder Brahim Díaz and Austrian defender David Alaba.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Mourinho has personally expressed interest in bringing both players to Turkey. The club is moving swiftly to assess market opportunities ahead of the August deadline.

Alaba a Viable Target as Real Madrid Consider Contract Termination

While a deal for Brahim Díaz appears complicated he reportedly wants to remain in Madrid despite not being part of Xabi Alonso’s immediate plans David Alaba has emerged as a more realistic acquisition.

Real Madrid is actively considering terminating Alaba’s contract, largely due to his €22 million per year salary, which makes him the second-highest-paid player at the club after Kylian Mbappé. The 32-year-old defender is now fourth in the center-back pecking order and no longer figures prominently in the club’s long-term plans.

Mourinho and Fenerbahçe are hopeful that the coach’s influence will help persuade Alaba to accept a new chapter in Istanbul.

Convincing the Players Remains the Key Hurdle

Fenerbahçe has the financial capacity to meet both players’ wage demands, but the main challenge lies in convincing them to make the switch. August will be critical, as Mourinho is pushing for rapid reinforcements to boost the squad before the league begins.

Brahim Díaz, who enjoyed a standout season under Carlo Ancelotti before the managerial change, has yet to publicly comment on his future. However, multiple reports suggest he’s keen to fight for a place at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Transfer Race Intensifies After Galatasaray Signs Osimhen

Fenerbahçe’s urgency in the transfer market is partly driven by their desire to keep pace with archrival Galatasaray, who recently made headlines by signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a reported €75 million.

The Nigerian striker’s arrival has positioned Galatasaray as early favorites for the Süper Lig title, prompting Fenerbahçe to respond with bold moves of their own. Bringing in names like Alaba or Díaz would not only reinforce the squad technically but also elevate the club’s profile in European football.

As the transfer window enters its final month, all eyes are on whether Mourinho can lure Madrid talent to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
