Gyökeres ready to debut for Arsenal against Manchester United in the Premier League

Arteta confident £200m signing will boost Gunners’ title push
Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign this Sunday (17) at Old Trafford with a major statement signing. Viktor Gyökeres, acquired from Sporting for nearly £200 million, is expected to make his official debut against Manchester United and is already being tipped by Mikel Arteta as a pivotal figure in the club’s title challenge.
Record Scorer Arrives in London
Gyökeres joins the Gunners after a remarkable season in Portugal, netting 54 goals for Sporting and becoming one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe. Arsenal beat strong competition including from Manchester United to secure the Swedish forward’s services.
Sunday’s clash will also see Gyökeres face Benjamin Šeško, United’s marquee summer signing and a former Arsenal target, in a showdown between two of the window’s biggest transfer splashes.
Adaptation and Expectations
Rumors suggested Gyökeres declined a move to United to avoid a reunion with former Sporting coach Rúben Amorim, but Arteta focused on praising the striker’s integration and work rate.
“He’ll have a tremendous impact on the team. He’s adapted very well, and our job is to create the right environment for him to score goals,” Arteta said.
The Spaniard also confirmed that fellow big signing Martín Zubimendi is ready to make his debut, strengthening Arsenal in another key area.
Gunners Eye Premier League Glory
Arsenal have finished runners-up for the past three seasons, consistently challenging for the title but falling just short. Arteta remains optimistic:
“If you keep digging, one day the gold will appear. We’ve had more points than any other club in the last three seasons, but now we need to do it in just one.”
