According to information from The Athletic, Manchester City will lose their sporting director at the end of this season. Txiki Begiristain, a Spaniard who has held this position since 2012, has already made his decision to leave the club.
The Athletic reports that Begiristain had already planned to leave Manchester City when he turned 55, but his commitment to the Citizens project and working with Pep Guardiola led him to extend this deadline until his 60th birthday. In August this year, Begiristain turned 60 and, as such, will leave the position unpaid.
Begiristain was involved in the hiring process for his successor, who is expected to take up the role of Manchester City ‘s sporting director in early 2025. Txiki Begiristain was a Spanish international forward who was Barcelona ‘s sporting director from 2003 to 2010 and, in 2012, held the same role but at Manchester City .
