Estêvão officially unveiled by Chelsea after €61.5 million deal and 14-month wait

The Brazilian prodigy joins the senior squad and may debut in this week’s friendlies at Stamford Bridge

Estêvão is officially a Chelsea player. After 14 months of waiting, the 18-year-old forward has been presented at the club’s training center in Cobham. The highly rated Brazilian, who signed from Palmeiras for €61.5 million, now joins the Blues’ first team for the 2025/26 season.

The deal, agreed in June 2024, was delayed due to FIFA transfer rules, which only allowed him to move once he turned 18. Estêvão continued playing in Brazil during the transition period and delivered a standout farewell performance scoring against Chelsea in the Club World Cup quarterfinals.

“I’m Ready to Give My Best,” Says Estêvão

Speaking during his presentation on Monday, Estêvão said he is “very happy” to finally wear the Chelsea shirt. “I waited a year and a half to get here, but I used that time to prepare and develop. Now, I’m ready to give my best for the club,” he said.

In an official statement, Chelsea emphasized the youngster’s maturity and praised his performances at Palmeiras and with the Brazilian youth national team. The board also noted his professionalism during the waiting period.

Debut Could Come Friday Against Bayer Leverkusen

Estêvão may make his first appearance in Chelsea colors this Friday (August 8) in a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge. The team will also face AC Milan on Sunday (August 10) in the final match before the Premier League kickoff.

Both fixtures are expected to draw attention, with Estêvão’s potential debut set to be one of the highlights for fans eager to see the club’s latest investment in action.
