Cruzeiro close to signing Luis Sinisterra from Bournemouth, in search of glory in the Brasileirão

Cruzeiro are on the verge of securing a high-profile reinforcement from the Premier League, with Luis Sinisterra set to arrive from Bournemouth to bolster the team’s attack for the remainder of the Brazilian season. The 26-year-old Colombian winger is expected to add pace and incisiveness to a side aiming for the Brasileirão title.

According to journalists Samuel Venâncio and Tiago Mattar, negotiations between the Minas Gerais club and Bournemouth have advanced significantly, and an agreement is close. Sinisterra, who has been recovering from an injury sustained in a Premier League match on March 15, is now fully fit and ready to join the squad.

Premier League experience and proven talent

This season, Sinisterra has played 14 matches for Bournemouth, registering 1 goal and 1 assist. A product of Once Caldas, he moved to Europe in 2018 to join Feyenoord, where he enjoyed his most prolific campaign with 34 goal contributions in 49 appearances in the Dutch league. His career has also included spells at Leeds United before joining Bournemouth, where he tallied 4 goals and 4 assists across the last two seasons.

Strategic move for Cruzeiro’s attack

Cruzeiro’s technical staff believe the addition of a fast, direct winger is crucial to diversifying the attack and breaking down defensive blocks. Sinisterra’s dribbling, acceleration, and ability to cut inside could provide the edge in decisive matches during the second half of the season.

Other transfer developments

While Sinisterra is poised to arrive, Cruzeiro have missed out on another Premier League name. Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, formerly of Corinthians and Nottingham Forest, was linked to the club but will instead join Palmeiras.

If finalized, Sinisterra’s signing would underline Cruzeiro’s intent to fight at the top of the table and strengthen their title credentials heading into the decisive months of the Brasileirão.
