Chelsea reject Juventus’ bid for Andrey Santos and plan to keep the midfielder for the 2025/26 season

Brazilian impressed on loan at Strasbourg and during preseason

Chelsea have turned down an approach from Juventus for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, deciding the 20-year-old will remain part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the 2025/26 season. The Serie A giants had inquired about both a loan and a permanent deal, but the Blues made it clear the player is not for sale this summer.

From Limited Minutes to Breakthrough in France

Signed from Vasco da Gama in 2023 for £18 million (R$114 million), Santos initially struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge, spending loan spells at Nottingham Forest and twice at Strasbourg. It was in Ligue 1 that he finally showcased his potential, registering 11 goals and 4 assists in 34 appearances last season.

His performances sparked interest from several European clubs, with Juventus emerging as the most serious suitor. The Bianconeri saw him as a strong addition to Igor Tudor’s midfield options, but Chelsea’s management were unmoved.

Why Chelsea Said No

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the club’s hierarchy believes Santos’ recent form — combined with his displays at the Club World Cup and in preseason — justifies keeping him in the squad. In two preseason matches against AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, the midfielder logged 106 minutes and provided one assist.

Long-Term Asset

Santos is under contract until June 2030 and has a market value of €35 million (R$220.8 million) per Transfermarkt. He has made four official appearances for Chelsea so far but is expected to play a bigger role in the upcoming campaign.

With the club committed to developing young talent and Santos showing signs of a breakout, the decision to reject Juventus could mark a turning point in his Chelsea career.
