City Group signs Corinthians youth star Kauê Furquim for R$14 million

The City Group, owners of global football clubs including Manchester City, have acquired 16-year-old striker Kauê Furquim from Corinthians. The talented youngster, considered one of the São Paulo club’s top prospects, will now reinforce Bahia.
Deal Details
According to GE, the conglomerate paid R$14 million to secure the player. Kauê had signed his professional contract with Corinthians in April and had already trained with the first team, even appearing on the bench for matches against Ceará and Fortaleza, though he did not play.
The termination fee for domestic clubs is calculated at 2,000 times the player’s salary at the time of signing, which explains the R$14 million figure. For foreign clubs, the release clause was higher at €50 million (R$331 million). Since the transfer involved Bahia, also part of the City Group, the domestic rate applied.
Corinthians Reacts
Following the transfer, Corinthians issued an official statement announcing the end of ties with Bahia and the City Group, emphasizing respect for institutions with sporting and cultural significance.
City Group’s Talent Strategy
The acquisition reflects City Group’s continued focus on young talent. Recent signings include Argentine prospect Claudio Echeverri from River Plate, who will gain experience on loan before competing for a spot at Manchester City. The group is also negotiating for 19-year-old winger Maher Carrizo from Vélez Sarsfield, who could be loaned to Valencia before joining Manchester City.
