Chelsea are preparing to leave Nkunku for Milan, the sale of which is expected to yield 42 million euros

Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is set to leave Stamford Bridge after just one season. According to Sky Sports, the Blues have reached an agreement with AC Milan, who will pay just over €42 million (R$265m) to secure the Frenchman’s signing.

Chelsea take a loss on Nkunku

Nkunku, 27, joined Chelsea in 2023 for a fee higher than the value Milan will now pay, meaning the London side will take a financial hit. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €35m, and his contract with Chelsea was valid until 2029.

The striker impressed statistically last season with 15 goals and 5 assists in 48 appearances, but new manager Enzo Maresca has not relied on him since pre-season. He was left out of Chelsea’s opening matches and has not featured since the Club World Cup final against PSG, where he played 13 minutes.

Interest from other clubs before Milan deal

Before Milan stepped up, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig had also explored the possibility of signing Nkunku. His exclusion from Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the September FIFA dates reinforced speculation about a move.

Chelsea plan reinforcements

Nkunku’s departure is expected to open space for new arrivals at Stamford Bridge. The club is negotiating for Alejandro Garnacho, who could leave Manchester United, and also monitoring Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig) and Fermín López (Barcelona).

With the transfer window entering its final stretch, Chelsea are expected to accelerate talks to bring in at least one replacement before deadline day.
