Former Blues defender valued at €47 million amid contract expiration

Chelsea have reignited their interest in signing defender Marc Guehi, entering into direct competition with Tottenham Hotspur for the Crystal Palace centre-back, according to journalist Sami Mokbel.

New head coach Enzo Maresca has prioritized strengthening the defensive line ahead of the new Premier League season. Despite heavy summer investments, Chelsea are actively seeking reinforcements and view Guehi as a key piece to bolster their back line.

Chelsea eager to bring Guehi back

Guehi, a former Chelsea academy graduate, left Stamford Bridge in 2021 but remains highly regarded within the club’s structure. With Crystal Palace reportedly open to negotiating his transfer, Chelsea have made informal contact to express their interest in a reunion.

However, no official bid has been submitted by Chelsea as of yet.

Spurs join the race

Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring Guehi closely and may pose serious competition. Spurs have tracked the 24-year-old for months and are now considering a formal approach to secure his services.

Both London rivals view Guehi as a valuable, homegrown option to solidify their defensive cores. His composure, Premier League experience, and ability to play out from the back fit the tactical profiles of both managers.

Transfer fee and contract status

Guehi’s current market value stands at approximately £40 million (around €47 million). With his contract nearing expiration, Crystal Palace could be forced to cash in on the player rather than risk losing him for free in the future.

The Eagles are expected to listen to offers, but are not under pressure to sell immediately unless their valuation is met.
