Chelsea icon Eden Hazard has sent a clear message to the club’s board: it’s time to bring Cesc Fàbregas back to West London. In a candid interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian superstar backed his former teammate to become the next manager of the Blues.

Hazard’s comments come at a sensitive time for Chelsea. Despite Liam Rosenior recently taking the reins from Enzo Maresca, the team’s long-term direction remains a subject of intense debate. For Hazard, the answer lies in the tactical brilliance of the Spaniard currently making waves at Como in Italy.

Private Conversations Revealed

Hazard revealed that he and Fàbregas shared a private conversation over the summer regarding the Spaniard’s rapid rise in the coaching world.

“To be honest, we talked a bit during the summer,” Hazard admitted. “I told him he was one of the best midfielders in history and that he was destined to become one of the best coaches as well. I explained to him that it’s time for him to go back to Chelsea. He joked about it, but I truly believe it.”

Fàbregas has been one of the standout names of the new generation of European coaches. His work at Como has been characterized by a modern, possession-based style that mirrors the intelligence he showed as a player. Hazard believes this is exactly what his beloved club needs to return to the top of the Premier League.

A Fan’s Dream

Still a regular at Stamford Bridge, Hazard expressed his personal desire to see a legendary partnership reborn in different roles.

“I’m a Chelsea fan and I want the best for the club,” the Belgian declared. “That’s why I dream of seeing Cesc on the bench, while I’ll be in the stands behind him, enjoying the spectacle. He loves football and knows everything about the sport.”

Pressure Mounting on Rosenior?

While Rosenior is still in the early stages of his tenure, the public endorsement of Fàbregas by a figure as influential as Hazard will undoubtedly increase the noise surrounding the manager’s position. With Chelsea struggling for consistency in 2026, the “Fàbregas to Chelsea” narrative is likely to dominate headlines in the coming months.
