Brentford prepare £60M bid for Maximilian Beier before approving Wissa’s Newcastle move

Brentford are ready to step up their efforts in the transfer market, with a £60 million package being prepared for Maximilian Beier of Borussia Dortmund, according to BILD via Sky Sports. The 22-year-old German forward has re-emerged as a priority target as the Bees look to reinforce their attack before allowing Yoane Wissa to join Newcastle United.
£55M fixed plus £5M in bonuses
The London club is reportedly willing to pay £55 million up front, with an additional £5 million in add-ons, to convince Dortmund to sell. Beier, who made 46 appearances last season mostly as a substitute, also began the Bundesliga opener on the bench and could see his minutes reduced further with the arrival of Fábio Silva from Wolves.
Brentford previously attempted to sign Beier in 2024, and now see the end of the transfer window as the ideal time to return with an aggressive offer.
Wissa deal depends on Beier
The Bees have made it clear that Wissa will only be released once a replacement is secured. Newcastle are waiting to intensify their push for the 27-year-old forward but must wait for Brentford to close the Beier deal first.
Known for his versatility, Beier can operate across the frontline but prefers a central role. Manager Thomas Frank reportedly sees him as capable of taking on the same tactical responsibilities as Wissa.
Race against the clock
With the market closing soon, Brentford are accelerating talks with Dortmund in hopes of finalizing Beier’s arrival this week. Should the deal go through, it would unlock Wissa’s long-anticipated move to St. James’ Park.
