Bayern Munich begins talks to sign Lukebakio, seeking summer return for former Bundesliga striker

Bayern Munich have officially opened negotiations with Sevilla FC to sign Dodi Lukebakio, the Congolese international who could be set for a return to the Bundesliga. According to transfer expert @BundesInsider, talks are underway between the two clubs as the German giants look to reinforce their attacking options under new manager Vincent Kompany.

Bundesliga Return on the Horizon

Lukebakio, 26, is no stranger to German football. He previously featured for Hertha Berlin, Fortuna Düsseldorf, and VfL Wolfsburg, developing a strong reputation for his pace, dribbling, and offensive versatility. In 2023, the forward moved to Sevilla for approximately €10 million (around R$58.7 million at the time of sale).

Now, with Sevilla open to offloading the striker for the right price, Bayern are looking to bring Lukebakio back to the Bundesliga. The Spanish side is reportedly seeking to recover a portion of its initial investment.

Kompany Eyes Tactical Versatility

Sources close to the club say Bayern’s sporting department views Lukebakio’s Bundesliga experience as a major advantage. His ability to play on both wings and as a second striker fits well with Kompany’s fluid attacking system. Lukebakio scored seven goals in his first season with Sevilla and remains under contract until 2028.

Bayern have yet to submit a formal offer, but talks are said to be progressing. A deal could develop quickly if terms are agreed, especially with Lukebakio reportedly open to a return to Germany.

Bayern’s Ambition in the Summer Market

The move signals Bayern’s continued efforts to reshape the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season. With Kompany taking charge and key departures reshaping the squad dynamics, Lukebakio’s profile as a Bundesliga-tested attacker fits the club’s short-term competitive goals.
