Bayer Leverkusen eyes Victor Lindelöf as a free transfer reinforcement for defense

Bayer Leverkusen could soon strengthen their defense with an experienced Premier League name. Swedish center-back Victor Lindelöf, 31, is on the radar after being offered to the German champions and the move wouldn’t cost them a transfer fee.

From Old Trafford to the Bundesliga?

Lindelöf, who spent several seasons at Manchester United, became a free agent in early July. His experience in both the Premier League and international tournaments makes him an attractive low-cost solution for a team in the middle of a defensive overhaul.

Sporting director Simon Rolfes is analyzing the proposal, while coach Erik ten Hag who previously worked with the Swede in England could play a role in influencing the decision.

Defensive Reshuffle in Leverkusen

The German champions have already lost Odillon Kossounou, who joined Atalanta permanently after a loan, and Jonathan Tah, who signed with Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

With key pieces gone, Leverkusen are urgently scanning the market for reliable reinforcements ahead of the new season.

More Exits Could Follow

The club is also facing uncertainty around Edmond Tapsoba, who has attracted interest from abroad, while Piero Hincapié remains a hot target despite his €60 million release clause.

Given the potential for further departures, Lindelöf’s availability as a free agent makes him an immediate and risk-free option.
