The 36-year-old, who most recently played for Bournemouth in the Premier League, is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro on a free transfer after terminating his contract with the English club.

Neto will reportedly sign a two-year contract, with the option to extend for an additional six months. According to GE, the deal is finalized in principle, with only formalities left before an official announcement.
While exact salary figures have not been disclosed, Neto earned £50,000 per week at Bournemouth approximately R$1.4 million per month. The club’s highest-paid player, Alex Telles, currently receives R$1.7 million per month.
Veteran Goalkeeper Brings Elite Experience
Neto’s career includes stints at Athletico Paranaense, Fiorentina, Juventus, Valencia, Barcelona, and Bournemouth. Known for his shot-stopping ability and calm presence under pressure, he also earned caps for the Brazilian national team.
His arrival is expected to bolster Botafogo’s defense as the club eyes continued success in both domestic and international competitions. With John heading to the Premier League, Neto’s experience in top European leagues is seen as a seamless replacement to help maintain the club’s competitive momentum.
