Barcelona caught off guard by Inaki Pena’s interest in leaving the club this summer

Barcelona faces new uncertainty at the start of the season. Goalkeeper Iñaki Peña, dissatisfied with his role under coach Hansi Flick, is reportedly considering leaving the club during the current transfer window, according to Marca.

Peña Unhappy With His Role

The 25-year-old has grown frustrated after the arrival of Joan García, which could push him further down the pecking order. Peña fears his playing time will be severely reduced, jeopardizing his form and continuity, and therefore believes a transfer is the best option.

No Offers Yet

Despite his intentions, Peña has not yet attracted formal proposals. The goalkeeper may be forced to stay at Camp Nou until at least the winter window, especially given Barcelona’s difficulties registering new players under Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Barcelona’s Internal Pressure

The Catalan giants are under pressure to offload players in order to balance the books and register recent signings. While the club expected to sell squad members not in Flick’s plans, Peña’s dissatisfaction comes as a surprise, since he was initially expected to remain as backup.
