Barbara Bonansea praises Barcelona and Spain’s style of play after standout Women’s Euro campaign

Juventus striker reflects on her admiration for Barça and Spanish footballers like Aitana Bonmatí
Barbara Bonansea, one of Italy’s most experienced and decorated players, has expressed her deep admiration for Barcelona and the Spanish national team following her standout performances at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Learning From the Best
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Juventus forward praised Spain’s technical quality and tactical intelligence, highlighting how facing Barcelona’s core players has helped her grow as a footballer.
“They’re strong. Very strong. They’re the current world champions, and for the first time, they reached the European Championship final at an incredibly high level,” Bonansea said. “Barcelona has done extraordinary work their style of play is beautiful, and every time I face them, I learn something new.”
She also singled out Aitana Bonmatí as the ultimate example of Spain’s movement-based game, and revealed her admiration for Patri Guijarro’s intelligence and positioning on the pitch.
A Decade of Success at Juventus
Bonansea, now 34, is set to begin her ninth season with Juventus, where she has been the team’s top scorer in recent campaigns. Last season alone, she scored eight goals and provided four assists, helping the club remain a contender for the Serie A Femminile title.
Since joining in 2017, the forward has won seven Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, and four Italian Super Cups, while also earning a spot in FIFA’s Best XI on two occasions.
Experience Meets Inspiration
For Bonansea, the admiration for Spain’s style goes beyond individual talent she credits their dominance to a system built from youth football, where players are taught precise decision-making and technical skills from an early age.
As she enters another season with Juventus, Bonansea aims to apply those lessons on the pitch, hoping to guide her club to more silverware and inspire the next generation of Italian footballers.
