Alessandro Bastoni future: Inter Milan reject €50 million offer from Chelsea

Inter Milan have turned down a major bid from Chelsea for Alessandro Bastoni, reaffirming that the Italian defender remains untouchable in their long-term project. Despite the Blues offering around €50 million (£315.84m), the Nerazzurri see Bastoni as a cornerstone of their defensive setup.
Inter Milan Stand Firm on Bastoni
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter president Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio recently received Chelsea’s formal proposal but quickly dismissed it. The club considers Bastoni essential and has no plans to negotiate unless faced with an extraordinary offer.
Pavard Seen as Sale Option
While Bastoni is off the market, Inter could raise funds through the departure of Benjamin Pavard. The Frenchman, signed from Bayern Munich for over €31m in 2023, is currently valued at €19m on Inter’s books. However, the Nerazzurri would only consider bids starting at €35m, ensuring a profitable return. Interest has already emerged from Galatasaray, Lille, and Saudi Arabia’s Neom project, though no official offers have arrived.
Newcastle’s Approach Also Rejected
Beyond Chelsea’s failed move, Newcastle United tested the waters for Davide Frattesi, but Inter immediately declined. The Italian midfielder is determined to establish himself in his third season and remains part of Simone Inzaghi’s core plans.
Transfer Strategy Moving Forward
Inter’s summer strategy is clear: generate funds without sacrificing their most valuable assets. Bastoni is untouchable, while Pavard remains the likeliest candidate to leave if the right bid comes in. With defensive reinforcements like Koni De Winter and Giovanni Leoni proving difficult to secure, the club’s decisions in the coming weeks could define its balance between competitiveness and financial stability.
