Goalkeeper could leave Old Trafford for Premier League rivals after disappointing spell.

Onana pushes for exit

Manchester United’s transfer window has been marked by heavy investment of more than R$1 billion in reinforcements, but the focus has now shifted to player departures. After negotiating Antony, Garnacho, and Højlund, the club may also lose André Onana.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the goalkeeper is unhappy at Old Trafford and has already opened talks with West Ham. Formal discussions between the London club and his representatives are underway, with the possibility of a deal being struck before the market closes.

West Ham sees opportunity

The Hammers want to sign Onana on loan, as they are dissatisfied with Alphonse Aréola’s performances at the start of the season. The Cameroonian is viewed as a top target, though Brazilian goalkeeper John remains a backup option after nearly joining last month.

West Ham’s urgency to reinforce the position puts Onana in pole position, especially since he is open to leaving Manchester United in search of more stability.

Contract and market value

Onana, 29, is still considered young for a goalkeeper and has a contract with United until June 2028. His current market value is around €25 million (R$158 million), according to Transfermarkt.

Although Inter Milan—his former club—has also shown interest, West Ham is seen as the most realistic destination at this point.

United’s crisis deepens

The potential departure of Onana comes amid a troubled start to the season for Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United. The Red Devils remain winless in the Premier League, increasing pressure on the Portuguese coach.

The team will try to earn its first victory this Wednesday (27) against Grimsby Town in the English League Cup, but the uncertainty around Onana only adds to the instability at Old Trafford.
