Rodrygo will only leave Real Madrid to play for a team bigger than Tottenham, says journalist

Rodrygo Goes is not interested in leaving Real Madrid for Tottenham, despite growing Premier League interest. The Brazilian forward is reportedly open to a transfer but only to a “bigger club” than Spurs, according to journalist Santi Aouna.

Rodrygo Draws Interest from Premier League Giants

The 23-year-old winger has been on the radar of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, all of whom are monitoring his situation at Real Madrid. With competition intensifying, Tottenham approached Rodrygo, hoping to make a high-profile addition to their squad this summer.

However, Rodrygo has ruled out a move to North London, indicating that any exit from the Spanish giants would only happen for a team with greater prestige and European pedigree than Spurs.

Uncertain Future Under Xabi Alonso

Rodrygo’s role at Real Madrid became uncertain after he lost his starting spot during the latter part of last season under Carlo Ancelotti. The arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach hasn’t improved his situation.

The former Bayer Leverkusen manager reportedly sidelined Rodrygo due to a lack of technical intensity, with the Brazilian playing only three matches during the FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite his talent and past contributions, Rodrygo’s position in Alonso’s plans remains in doubt, opening the door for a possible transfer.

Real Madrid Sets Price Tag at €100 Million

While Real Madrid does not prioritize selling Rodrygo, club president Florentino Pérez is open to offers. The Spanish giants are said to value him at €100 million (R$648 million) slightly above his Transfermarkt valuation of €90 million (R$583 million).

Unless a top-tier European club meets that valuation, the Brazilian is expected to remain in Madrid for the 2025/26 season.
