Real Madrid Star Jude Bellingham Undergoes Shoulder Surgery, Out Until October
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has undergone successful shoulder surgery and is now expected to miss the start of the 2025–2026 season, returning only in October, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old, considered one of Xabi Alonso’s key players, had been managing a dislocated shoulder injury since 2023. After months of conservative treatment, Bellingham opted for surgery to fully resolve the issue.
Three-Month Recovery for Bellingham
The surgery was reportedly successful, but the expected recovery period is approximately three months, sidelining the English international for the opening phase of La Liga and the Champions League group stage.
Bellingham had hinted at the decision during the Club World Cup, shortly after Real Madrid’s 3–1 win over Pachuca. “I’ll have surgery after the tournament. I’m tired of playing with the brace, especially in the heat. It will be good to have my shoulder back. I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
Major Blow to Xabi Alonso’s Season Start
Bellingham’s absence represents a significant setback for Xabi Alonso, who begins his first full season as Real Madrid manager. The midfielder was one of the club’s top performers last season, despite his injury struggles, registering 15 goals and 14 assists in 58 matches.
Real Madrid will need to adjust quickly, with opening fixtures looming and squad depth to be tested early.
Florentino Eyes Enzo Fernández as Potential Reinforcement
In response to Bellingham’s layoff and concerns over squad depth, club president Florentino Pérez is reportedly targeting Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández. The Argentine could be brought in for a fee of around €150 million, as Real Madrid considers adding another high-profile midfielder.
As the summer window progresses, Madrid remains active in the market, also preparing contingency plans amid renewed fears over Vinícius Júnior’s future at the club.
