Lucas Beraldo Asks to Leave PSG After Club World Cup Final Loss

Lucas Beraldo could become Paris Saint-Germain’s first departure following their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final. According to French newspaper L’Équipe, the 21-year-old Brazilian defender has formally requested to leave the club due to dissatisfaction with his limited playing time.

The request was reportedly made during the tournament, where Beraldo featured in all three of PSG’s matches, including the full 90 minutes against Botafogo, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.

PSG Will Only Approve Exit If Replacement Arrives

The PSG board is open to negotiating Beraldo’s departure, but only if they can secure a replacement defender during the current transfer window. One of the main targets, according to international reports, is Illya Zabarnyi, the Ukrainian centre-back from Bournemouth.

Beraldo’s Journey at PSG

Beraldo joined PSG from São Paulo in 2024 for €20 million (approx. R$107 million at the time). He quickly adapted to European football, playing 38 matches last season 29 as a starter and scoring one goal.

Despite his steady involvement, Beraldo is believed to be seeking a club where he can play a more consistent starting role, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.

Market Value and Contract Situation

Currently valued at €25 million, Beraldo is under contract with PSG until June 2028. The defender’s potential departure would leave a void in PSG’s defensive depth, particularly with the club aiming to bounce back after falling short of continental and global titles.
