Liverpool wants Nkunku and Chelsea asks for €41 million for the center forward

Fresh off their Club World Cup triumph, Chelsea could see one of their key attackers leave the club this summer. Liverpool have expressed interest in signing Christopher Nkunku, and according to TBR Football and L’Équipe, the Blues are open to negotiating, but they’ve set a price tag of R$262 million (approx. €41 million).
Nkunku, 27, is reportedly open to joining the Reds, now under the management of Arne Slot. Personal terms are not expected to be a barrier, with Liverpool already tracking the French forward for several seasons.
Longstanding Interest and Mutual Admiration
Liverpool’s interest in Nkunku dates back to his time at RB Leipzig, when the club made initial inquiries but eventually lost out to Chelsea. The player himself has previously hinted at a soft spot for the Reds. In a 2022 interview with L’Équipe, Nkunku revealed:
“I always choose Liverpool when playing
. They’re my favorite team.”
Chelsea eventually signed Nkunku in 2023, offering him a £195,000-a-week salary and a deal running through 2028.
Chelsea Sets High Asking Price
While Transfermarkt currently values Nkunku at €35 million (approx. R$222 million), Chelsea are demanding around R$262 million for the transfer. The club remains open to offers but will not sell below their valuation, especially after the player’s consistent performances this season.
Nkunku’s 2024–25 Campaign
Despite injury setbacks early in his Chelsea career, Nkunku found form in the 2024–25 season, contributing 15 goals and 5 assists in 48 appearances, including 25 starts across all competitions. His versatility capable of playing as a striker, second forward, or attacking midfielder makes him a strong fit for Liverpool’s fluid attack.
