Colorado offers $3 million for 50% of the Talleres standout’s rights amid interest from rivals

In search of midfield reinforcements, Internacional has officially submitted a proposal for Juan Camilo Portilla, a Colombian midfielder currently with Talleres (ARG). The 26-year-old has been one of the standout players in Argentine football and is seen as a potential solution to replace Fernando, who is sidelined with a long-term injury.

The Offer: $3M for 50% Rights

According to the Argentine outlet Olé, and confirmed by Lance!, Internacional’s proposal is worth $3 million (R$16.3 million) for 50% of Portilla’s economic rights. The deal structure is common in South American football but was reportedly not received enthusiastically by the Talleres board, who believe the offer undervalues the player.

The Argentine club reportedly wants closer to $5 million (R$27 million) for the same share—still below the $6 million termination clause, but significantly more than Inter’s current offer. Meanwhile, River Plate has reportedly submitted a $4 million (R$21.7 million) bid, upping the pressure on Colorado to match or exceed that figure.

Another Brazilian club, Atlético-MG, also entered the race earlier this month by initiating contact with the Córdoba-based team, though it’s unclear if they’ve formalized an offer.

Portilla’s Profile: Defensive Mid With Leadership

Portilla joined Talleres in early 2024 from América de Cali, in a deal worth $1.8 million. Since arriving in Argentina, the Colombian has carved out a reputation as a complete No. 5, combining defensive solidity with strong passing range.

Despite not wearing the captain’s armband, Portilla is widely seen as a leader on the pitch, guiding the midfield and excelling in interceptions, long balls, and progressive passes. His form has even earned him call-ups to the Colombian national team.

Other Names on Inter’s Radar

While Portilla remains the priority, Internacional is also monitoring Alan Rodríguez, a second midfielder from Argentinos Juniors, who has already been the subject of internal inquiries by the Colorado board.

Injury-Driven Search

Inter’s midfield restructuring became a necessity after Fernando was ruled out for the rest of the year. The management’s goal is to bring in a player who can immediately start, adding both defensive presence and experience to Eduardo Coudet’s squad as they continue to compete in the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Sudamericana.
