Internacional Could Pocket R$5.4 Million from German’s Transfer to León

Internacional could earn around R$5.4 million with the potential transfer of striker German from Spain’s Real Oviedo to Mexico’s León. The expected amount, equivalent to 1 million dollars at Friday’s (July 4) exchange rate, relates to 30% of the player’s economic rights that Internacional retained following his sale.
German, who played for Internacional between 2022 and 2023 and scored 14 goals in 71 appearances, was transferred to Real Oviedo two years ago for $3.2 million. At that time, the club kept a 30% resale clause, anticipating potential appreciation of the striker in foreign markets.
Performance in Spain
Since joining Oviedo, German has featured in 83 matches in the Spanish second division, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists. He was instrumental in helping the club secure promotion back to La Liga after a two-decade absence from the top tier.
Now, with Oviedo preparing for its return to the Spanish elite, the club has signed Venezuelan striker Salomón Rondón, formerly of River Plate, which could push German toward a transfer to León.
Both Oviedo and León belong to the same business group, which also owns Pachuca, but the deal is expected to involve financial compensation rather than a free move.
Internacional’s Financial Planning
At Beira-Rio, the club is closely monitoring the negotiations as it looks to boost its transfer revenue. Internacional has set a goal of raising R$160 million in player sales by December. So far, R$30 million has been raised through the transfer of Rômulo to Tigres (Mexico), and another R$30 million is expected from the sale of Johnny to Atlético de Madrid, leaving a shortfall of around R$100 million to meet the target.
If German’s move to León goes through for the anticipated figures, it would contribute significantly to Internacional’s financial planning for the remainder of the year.
