Inter Milan Submit €40M Bid for Ademola Lookman Amid Barcelona, Premier League Interest

Italian giants propose loan with obligation to buy for Atalanta star
Inter Milan have made an official move to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, submitting a structured €40 million deal to Atalanta. The offer, confirmed on Wednesday (July 17), involves an initial loan with a mandatory purchase clause, a model Inter hopes will seal the deal for one of Serie A’s top attacking talents.
Inter Moves Ahead in Lookman Race
The Champions League runners-up are facing competition from Barcelona and multiple Premier League clubs, but currently lead the race due to advanced talks with the player’s entourage. Lookman is said to have approved the move, showing a clear desire to join Inter ahead of the 2024–25 season.
Despite the growing interest, Inter remain confident, hoping that the player’s willingness to transfer will tip negotiations in their favor.
Atalanta Hold Firm, Reject Offer Structure
While Inter’s €40 million valuation may align with the striker’s market value, Atalanta have rejected the loan-based structure of the deal. The Bergamo club prefers a straight cash sale, especially for one of their top performers, and has so far shown little interest in Inter’s terms.
The Serie A side believes Lookman’s rising stock due to consistent performances in domestic and European competitions justifies a more favorable deal.
Inter Stay Patient, Banking on Player Pressure
Despite Atalanta’s stance, Inter are unwilling to improve the financial structure of their proposal for now. According to sources close to the negotiations, the Milan-based club is hoping that Lookman’s eagerness to move will encourage Atalanta to soften their position in the coming days.
