Brighton Targeting Antony as Potential Replacement for João Pedro

Manchester United winger Antony has emerged as a top transfer target for Brighton & Hove Albion as the Premier League club looks to fill the void left by João Pedro’s recent move to Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Brazilian forward, who enjoyed a promising loan spell with Real Betis last season, is expected to leave Old Trafford permanently this summer. United are reportedly ready to part ways with Antony, as he does not feature in the plans of new manager Rúben Amorim.

While clubs like RB Leipzig have shown interest, Antony could remain in the Premier League, with Brighton expressing serious intent. The Seagulls are believed to be evaluating a move for the winger, with hopes that he could replicate the success he showed in Spain during the latter part of the 2024/25 campaign.

Brighton Reinvesting After João Pedro Sale

Brighton recently sold João Pedro to Chelsea in a deal worth approximately €75 million, and are now in search of a new attacking figurehead. Antony is viewed by some within the club as a player capable of making an immediate impact, especially given his recent form with Betis, where he tallied 10 goals and 6 assists across 40 appearances for Betis and United combined.

However, the move is not without internal hesitation. Concerns persist about whether Antony can consistently perform in the Premier League, where he previously struggled to meet expectations after his high-profile transfer from Ajax to Manchester United in 2022.

United Set High Asking Price

Manchester United have reportedly set Antony’s price tag at €59 million (£50 million), nearly matching the fee Brighton received for João Pedro. While the player is open to a move, Brighton are said to be carefully weighing the financial and tactical implications before submitting an official offer.

Antony remains under contract at Old Trafford until June 2027, but all signs point to an exit during the current transfer window.
