Brahim Díaz Nearing Real Madrid Contract Extension Amid Rodrygo Exit Rumors

Real Madrid are closing in on a contract renewal with Moroccan forward Brahim Díaz, with the move potentially tied to the uncertain future of Brazilian winger Rodrygo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Díaz, 25, is currently under contract until June 2027, but talks to extend and improve his deal have progressed significantly. While details of the new terms have not yet been made public, the agreement is expected to be formalized in the coming weeks.

The former Manchester City attacker featured sporadically last season but made the most of his minutes, scoring six goals across 2,289 minutes of play. His versatility and tactical intelligence have earned praise from new manager Xabi Alonso, who is said to value Díaz’s ability to operate across multiple attacking roles.

The timing of the renewal coincides with growing speculation around Rodrygo’s potential departure. The Brazilian international has reportedly fallen down the pecking order at Madrid and is believed to be uncomfortable in his current tactical role, which has shifted him away from his preferred left-wing position.

Premier League clubs Manchester City and Arsenal are closely monitoring Rodrygo’s situation. Should Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez greenlight a sale, Brahim Díaz is expected to benefit directly, with fewer competitors for a place in the starting eleven.

Díaz currently wears the number 21 shirt and stands to gain prominence in a three-forward formation, particularly with Turkish star Arda Güler expected to take on a central creative role as a number 10. This tactical shift would leave wide or secondary striker roles more open positions in which Díaz has proven reliable.

Last season, the Moroccan forward played in five different roles, including both flanks, attacking midfield, second striker, and even as a false nine making him an invaluable asset for a squad seeking depth and flexibility in a demanding campaign.

If finalized, the contract renewal would represent both a vote of confidence and a strategic move by Real Madrid as they reshape their attacking options heading into the 2025/26 season.
