Atlético Madrid Offers Samu Lino in Deal for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman

La Liga side pushes for Nigerian striker, but Atalanta and player remain hesitant

Atlético Madrid is stepping up efforts to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, making the Nigerian forward their top attacking target this transfer window. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish club is prepared to offer Samu Lino plus a financial package in hopes of securing the deal.

Atlético Looks to Sweeten the Deal with Samu Lino

Diego Simeone’s side is reportedly willing to part ways with Brazilian winger Samu Lino, who could lose his spot in the squad this season. Atlético views Lookman as an ideal addition due to his pace, creativity, and ability to play on either wing.

However, Atalanta has placed a €50 million (R$325 million) price tag on Lookman—an amount Atlético considers excessive. To reduce costs, the Spanish club hopes to include a player in the negotiations.

Atalanta Unimpressed, Lookman Waits for Inter

Despite the proposal, Atalanta is not convinced. Reports from Italy suggest that the Serie A club was not satisfied with the initial terms of the player-plus-cash offer.

To complicate matters, Lookman himself is believed to be waiting for an offer from Inter Milan, a club he reportedly sees as his preferred destination. Inter’s status as Champions League finalists has added weight to their appeal.

Atlético Remains Hopeful Despite Setbacks

Lookman, 26, is under contract with Atalanta until 2026 and has enjoyed two impressive seasons in Serie A, delivering both goals and assists.

Despite the setbacks, Atlético Madrid remains optimistic about reaching an agreement, with club sources suggesting negotiations are ongoing. The Spanish side will continue to monitor the situation closely in hopes of completing the signing before the transfer window closes.
