PSG defeats Seattle Sounders and advances to the round of 16 of the Club World Cup
French team overtakes Botafogo and ends the first phase as leader of Group B

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0 on Monday (23) at Lumen Field in Seattle, United States, and secured a place in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup. Kvaratskhelia and Hakimi scored the goals for the French team.
With this result, PSG surpassed Botafogo , who lost to Atlético de Madrid, and took the lead in Group B, with six points. In the next phase, the French team will face the second-placed team in Group A, which will be decided in the duel between Palmeiras and Inter Miami. Seattle, who did not score in the competition, will say goodbye to the World Cup.
THE GAME
In their quest to qualify, PSG played a game without creativity, but it was effective. In the 35th minute, in a lucky move, Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for the French team. Seattle Sounders did not react and ended the first half at a disadvantage.

In the second half, the European team dominated and managed to increase the score. In Seattle’s only attempt, after mistakes by Rothrock, PSG launched a counterattack and prevailed. In the 66th minute, Doué found Barcola, who crossed for Hakimi to score and secure the victory for the visitors.
NEXT PHASE
For the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, PSG returns to the field on Sunday (29), against the vice-leader of group A, at 1 pm (Brasília time), in Atlanta.
