Griezmann renews his contract with Atlético Madrid until 2027
The red-and-white club has announced the extension of the French footballer’s contract.
Atlético de Madrid has announced the renewal of Antoine Griezmann ‘s contract until June 30, 2027. The forward had a contract until 2026, and now his commitment to the club has been extended for another year.
With this deal, Atlético de Madrid gains some space within the salary cap. Griezmann will continue to earn eight million euros net, but he will do so over two seasons: four in 2025-26 and another four in 2026-27. However, the roadmap outlined by the club and the player is for the second payment of the final season to be made without being an Atlético player.
The player sent a message to the Atlético fans as soon as the news was made official. “Atlético is very happy to wear this wonderful jersey for many years to come, and I hope to bring you all much joy. A big hug. I love you,” said Antoine.

The French striker arrived at Atlético de Madrid in the 2014-15 season and after nine seasons at Atlético, divided into two stages, he is the top scorer in the history of the red and white with 197 goals, surpassing the 173 scored by the great Luis Aragonés . He is also the eighth player who has worn the red and white shirt the most times in an official match (442) and the third foreigner who has done so on the most occasions, only behind his teammates Jan Oblak and Ángel Correa .
Author of the first goal in the history of the Riyadh Air Metropolitano , Griezmann has won a Spanish Super Cup (2014) and another European Super Cup (2018) as an Atletico player and prior to the latter, a UEFA Europa League (2018) in whose final he scored two goals in a 3-0 victory against Olympique de Marseille . A brilliant end to the season at club level that continued in the World Cup that same year in Russia , where he was crowned champion with France , being a fundamental pillar for the ‘Bleus’.
This season, Antoine Griezmann has played a total of 53 matches, scoring 16 goals and providing 9 assists.
Finally, looking ahead to the next campaign, everything points to El Principito ( The Little Prince) having to accept a different role than the one he’s had until now, and if nothing changes, Simeone will use him as a substitute. Furthermore, if there’s no change in the script, the Frenchman’s plan is to play one more year with Atlético and then embark on a new adventure in the MLS in the United States .
