The match, held at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, featured Norwegian midfielder Andreas Schjelderup as the star player, scoring the decisive goal in the 13th minute. After a quick counterattack, Frederik Aursnes advanced down the left and crossed low for Schjelderup, who finished accurately into the right corner, surprising goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

With this result, Benfica finished top of Group C, confirming their qualification for the knockout stage, while Bayern Munich took second place. The Portuguese team then relied on a solid defense, exploiting fast counterattacks led by the agile Schjelderup to maintain their advantage on the scoreboard.
