Newcastle defeats Crystal Palace and takes third place in the Premier League

Summary

English League Cup champions Newcastle maintained their excellent form and achieved their sixth consecutive victory on Wednesday against Crystal Palace at St. James Park. They dominated their rivals from start to finish and won 5-0. Murphy, Guéhi (own goal), Barnes, Schär and top scorer Isak scored the goals.

Newcastle’s first half was perfect. They had 62% possession, created four big chances, converted three and even benefited from an own goal. Crystal Palace’s only big chance during the game was wasted by Eze, with a ridiculous penalty kick.

The fifth goal came early in the second half, with Isak, in the 12th minute, and then Eddie Howe started to rest his best players. He took off Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton, Murphy and Isak and started to just manage the huge advantage.

All with 32 games, and Newcastle in third place

With the match played this Wednesday, the Premier League once again “erases” the asterisk, and all teams now have 32 games. With the victory, Newcastle took third place from Nottingham Forest, now with 59 points. Crystal Palace remained in 12th place.
