Almost a month after the duel between Union Berlin and Bochum was suspended because of a home fan, who threw a lighter on the pitch and hit the opposing goalkeeper, Patrick Drewes, in the head, for wasting time, the Sports Court reached a decision, in this Thursday.
The entity decided to give the three points to the bottom team in the Bundesliga , which only has one win and three draws in 15 rounds this season, but the 12th placed team will appeal, so this decision is not yet final.
The result was tied at 1-1 and the situation happened in stoppage time, and the players even returned to the pitch to finish the match, passing only the ball between them – although Bochum did not want to return to the field -, but the decision at the secretariat was a victory, 2-0, against Diogo Leite ‘s team , the starter.
“Of course, we are aware that reassessment should be a last resort. However, circumstances left us no other option. The goalkeeper was limited by the injury and the doctor made the decision not to play Drewes. We do not have enough evidence to suggest a special game or a conspiracy», they explained.
