At 71, Portuguese coach will take on new challenge in Africa
Carlos Queiroz, a 71-year-old Portuguese coach, is preparing to become the new Tunisia coach, after arriving in Tunis, the country’s capital, on Wednesday to conclude negotiations that will take him on a new adventure on the African continent, where he was already coach of South Africa, at the beginning of this century, and of Egypt, between September 2021 and April 2022.
On Thursday morning, Queiroz, who has been out of work since leaving the Qatar national team in December 2023, met with Kamel Idir, interim president of the Tunisian federation, and the agreement was reached.
The Carthage Eagles occupy 1st place in Group H of the African qualification for next year’s World Cup, and Carlos Queiroz’s official debut will take place on March 16, in a game against Liberia.
