Real Madrid beat Leganés and return to second place in LaLiga
Mbappe, Valverde and Bellingham score in comfortable win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side
THE GAME
Real Madrid beat Leganés 3-0 without any scares this Sunday, in a match of the 14th round of the Spanish Championship. Playing away from home, the Madrid team opened the scoring with Mbappé taking advantage of a pass from Vini Jr. In the second half, Valverde took a powerful free kick to extend the lead. In the last minutes, Bellingham scored the third goal with a header.
ATTACK WORKED
With many players missing in all sectors, Ancelotti brought in Valverde at right-back and the young Asencio at center back. Another change, this one by choice, was the exchange of Mbappé for Vini Jr. The Brazilian played centrally, with the Frenchman playing on the left wing. And some good plays were constructed this way. Vini provided the assist for the Frenchman’s goal, and also set up the number 9 in a goal that was disallowed for a millimetric offside in the first half.
EYE ON THE TABLE
With the victory, Real Madrid reclaimed the lead in the Spanish Championship. Carlo Ancelotti’s team reached 30 points, leaving Atlético de Madrid, with 29, behind, and reducing the advantage over leaders Barcelona to four points. Leganés remains in 14th place, with 14 points. In the next round, Real will face Getafe, next Saturday. But before that, next Wednesday, they have a decisive match in the Champions League, against Liverpool, at Anfield.
