Monaco “strongly condemned the unacceptable racist comments made about Wilfried Singo on social media”, after the game against PSG last Wednesday, in a statement that the club published on the social network X.

Singo inadvertently injured Gianluigi Donnarumma in the face during the encounter. The PSG goalkeeper had to close his wounds with 10 staples, but after the game, the two players put everything straight, with the Italian accepting the Ivorian defender’s apology.

«This behavior has no place in sport, on or off the field, and is completely at odds with the values that the club represents. The club offers its full support to Wilfried,” Monaco also added in the statement.

It is worth noting that this move caused some controversy in French football, due to the fact that Singo was not sent off. Both the referee and the VAR considered the collision to be accidental and the player remained on the field until the end of the game, receiving a yellow card that resulted in a one-game suspension (due to accumulation of cards), to be fulfilled… against PSG, in the French Super Cup, on January 5th.
