Chilean goalkeeper Cristóbal Campos was involved in a serious car accident in the early hours of Monday in Chile. The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who currently plays for San Antonio Unido in the Chilean third division, overturned the car he was driving, allegedly speeding, and was rushed to hospital.

According to AS, Campos is still hospitalized and is not in danger of dying. However, he underwent an operation in which one of his feet was partially amputated, which got stuck in one of the vehicle’s pedals. The goalkeeper was alone and, in the accident, he crashed into the highway’s protective barriers.

The Chilean goalkeeper has already represented the University of Chile and even played for Portugal in 2017, when he wore the Alcanenense under-19 jersey. Campos also has one cap for the Chilean national team.

In Chile, messages wishing Cristóbal Campos a speedy recovery from the country’s clubs have been mounting.
