MANCHESTER – In a surprising admission ahead of a pivotal Premier League weekend, Pep Guardiola has named Arsenal as the best team in world football today. Despite the fierce rivalry between Manchester City and the Gunners, the Spaniard conceded that Mikel Arteta’s side is currently operating at an unmatched level.

Arsenal currently sits seven points clear of City at the top of the Premier League and maintains a perfect 100% record in the Champions League. “Look at the table, look at the performances. They are the best right now,” Guardiola admitted during Friday’s press conference. “I just hope we can stay close and that they give us a chance to catch them.”

The Seven-Point Gap The “Cityzens” (43 points) could temporarily close the gap to four points when they host Wolverhampton this Saturday. However, the pressure will shift back to London on Sunday, as Arsenal (50 points) faces a high-stakes clash against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

Defending the Ballon d’Or Winner Guardiola also used the press conference to defend Rodri. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has struggled to find his rhythm since returning from an 11-month layoff due to a serious knee injury.

“He was out for nearly a year. Give him time,” Pep urged. “He is still the best in his position. I know exactly what is happening with the team’s dynamics, and I am certain Rodri will return to his peak level. It’s not just on him; it’s on the whole team to improve.”
