Former Polish international Jan Tomaszewski has launched a scathing attack on Hansi Flick, claiming the German manager should be sacked if he fails to deliver the Champions League trophy to Barcelona this season.

Despite a recent 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague, the Catalan giants’ inconsistent form including a recent slip against Real Sociedad has drawn heavy criticism. Tomaszewski, a legendary former goalkeeper, believes Flick’s tactical approach is stifling the potential of what he describes as a “fantastic squad.”

“He Doesn’t Fit at Barcelona”

Speaking to the press, Tomaszewski was blunt about Flick’s future at the Camp Nou. “Flick has to win the Champions League. If he doesn’t, he should be fired because he simply doesn’t fit this team,” he stated.

The Pole further criticized Flick’s squad management, suggesting that the players are physically exhausted. “The players are overwhelmed. I believe they are performing at only 40-50% of their potential. Flick is turning experienced winners into inexperienced-looking athletes.”

The Lewandowski Dilemma

The conversation also turned to the future of Robert Lewandowski. With rumors circulating that Barcelona may ask the veteran striker to accept a reduced salary and a bench role next season, Tomaszewski offered a different perspective on how to use the “goal-scoring machine.”

“Robert won’t be a 90-minute key player anymore. He should be the star who comes on when the team needs that winning goal,” Tomaszewski explained. “He was born for that role. As long as he has the strength, whether at Barcelona or elsewhere, he will always deliver against a tired opponent.”

The Road to Munich

With the Champions League final scheduled for May 30th at the Allianz Arena, the pressure on Flick is mounting. While the board has officially backed the manager, the shadow of legendary expectations at Barcelona means that anything less than European glory could lead to a summer of upheaval in Catalonia.
