Barcelona is reportedly leading the race to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, as the Argentine international approaches the final months of his contract at the Vitality Stadium.
With his current deal set to expire in June 2026, Senesi is now free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs outside of England. According to talkSPORT, Barcelona has identified the 28-year-old as a high-priority “low-cost” reinforcement to bolster Hansi Flick’s defensive line for next season.
Bournemouth’s Defensive Dilemma
The “Cherries” are in a difficult position. After losing key defenders Ilya Zabarnyi (to PSG) and Dean Huijsen (to Real Madrid) last summer for a combined €120m, Bournemouth is reluctant to lose another cornerstone mid-season.
However, Senesi has reportedly rejected multiple renewal offers, signaling his desire for a new challenge. If Bournemouth does not sell him in the current January window, they face losing him for nothing in the summer a risk they may take to ensure Premier League stability following the £62.5m sale of Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City earlier this month.
