MADRID/LONDON – The race for Julián Álvarez is heating up once again. Less than a year after his high-profile move to Spain, reports suggest the Argentine World Cup winner is growing increasingly frustrated at Atlético Madrid, sparking intense interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to transfer expert Graeme Bailey (TEAMtalk), the 25-year-old striker is considering his future at the Metropolitano. While Barcelona reportedly views Álvarez as a “dream signing,” their ongoing financial constraints make a deal difficult, leaving the door wide open for the London clubs.

London Calling for “The Spider”

A key detail in the potential move is Álvarez’s preference for the English capital. Sources indicate that if the striker were to return to the Premier League, he would only consider clubs based in London. Representatives for both Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly held discreet talks with the player’s intermediaries to gauge his availability for the summer window.

Further fuel was added to the fire by IndyKaila, reporting that Álvarez is genuinely interested in a Premier League comeback after his successful stint at Manchester City.

A Record Price Tag

Despite the player’s alleged discontent, prising him away from Diego Simeone’s side won’t be cheap. Álvarez is under contract until June 2030, and Atlético Madrid currently values the forward at approximately €100 million.

So far this season, “La Araña” has been productive on the pitch despite the rumors, recording 11 goals and 5 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. However, with Barcelona director Deco recently meeting with the player’s agents, the battle for his signature is expected to be the saga of the next transfer window.
