MADRID – The future of Vinícius Júnior has taken center stage in the January transfer window following a staggering £200 million offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club. Despite the astronomical figures, Real Madrid have reportedly informed the Saudi delegation that their star No. 7 is “not for sale.”

The bid arrives amidst growing tension between the Brazilian and a section of the Bernabéu crowd. According to El Periódico, Vini Jr. has privately expressed his frustration to close associates, hinting that he may no longer feel “wanted” in the Spanish capital after being booed during the recent 2-0 win over Levante.

While the Saudi Pro League continues its aggressive pursuit of world football’s elite, Manchester City are also monitoring the situation. Reports from Topskills UK suggest that Pep Guardiola’s side remains a serious contender for Vini’s signature, whether in the current window or during the summer.

Manchester City see the 25-year-old as a transformative signing, though Real Madrid’s firm stance remains a significant hurdle. Florentino Pérez is desperate to renew Vini’s contract which currently runs until June 2027 but the player’s recent “sadness” has complicated negotiations.

The “Not For Sale” Stance

Despite the player’s reported unhappiness, Real Madrid’s official position is clear: they will not entertain offers in the middle of a season where they are fighting for multiple trophies.

However, the quote attributed to Vini Jr. “I don’t want to stay where I’m not wanted” has sent shockwaves through the market. If the rift between the player and the fans does not heal by the end of the season, a £200m price tag might transition from a “rejection” to a starting point for the biggest transfer in football history.
